Bhutan Trekking Cost with Bhutan Visa Fee

All the tourists visiting Bhutan have to bear a onetime payment of $40 as Visa fee on top of Sustainable Development Fee (SDF Fee) and Tour/Trekking cost.

The total tour cost, including SDF fee and Bhutan visa fees for booking “Bhutan Jomolhari Trek 12 Nights and 13 Days” are as follows:

Note: Due to nature of Tour and man force required, cost for trekking may be slightly more expensive compared to Cultural and festival tours.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day1Arrival at Paro – Paro vicinity tour (cultural sightseeing)

After touching down at Paro international airport, meet with your guide and driver and get transferred to your hotel. After enjoying your lunch, set out to visit the exploring places:

  • Bhutan national Museum (Ta Dzong), the dzong was built in the mid-17th century as a watchtower overlooking Rinpung Dzong by Lanyongpa Tenzin Drukdra and Chogyal Migyur Tenpa. The circular dzong houses the National Museum of Bhutan.
  • Paro Dzong, formally known as Rinchen Pung Dzong (shortened to Rinpung Dzong), was built in 1644 under the command of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is one of the most beautiful and historically important dzongs in the country.

Day2Hike to Paro Taktsang monastery (Tiger Nest)

After breakfast drive towards Taktsang base from where the hike begins.

Horse riding facilities are available till view point (optional).

  • Taktsang monastery, the monastery is located 900 m above Paro valley on the face of a rocky cliff. Taktshang is perhaps the most famous monastery in the country.
  • Visit Farmhouse and get to see unique culture and Traditional of Bhutan. (Optional)

Day3Drive from Paro to Gunyitsawa Village to Sharna Zampa (trekking)
  • From Paro we will drive till Gunyitsawa, from where the trekking begins. Your trek permit is checked and endorsed here at the army post. With walking distance of 40 minutes

Day4Sharna Zampa to Thangthangkha (trekking)
  • After breakfast continue trekking with walking distance 22 km time cover 8 hours

Day5Thangthangkha to Jangothang (trekking)
  • From this campsite we will have a spectacular view of Mt. Jomolhari, the highlight of this tour. After breakfast continue trekking with walking distance 18 km time cover 6 hours

Day6Jangothang Halt (Trekking)
  • Today is a rest day. Go for short hike around the base camp and sometime you can spot blue sheep (Pseudois nayaur) grazing on the slopes.

Day7Jangothang to Lingzhi (trekking)
  • After breakfast the trail ascends following the Pa Chhu river valley, till we reach our next stopover via Bhonte la Pass (4890m) at Lingzhi. With walking distance 16 km and time cover 6 hours.

Day8Lingzhi to Shodu (trekking)
  • After early breakfast continue trekking with walking distance of 22km and time cover of 9 hours start ascending towards Yelila pass (4,930 m). From this pass you will have a beautiful view of Mt. Jomolhari, Tsherimgang and Masanggang. The trail then descends down till we reach our next stop at Shodu.

Day9Shodu to Barshong (trekking)
  • After breakfast continues trekking for about with walking distance 17km and time cover 6 hours through a lush rhododendron forest following Thim chhu river, you will finally arrive at your campsite located at Barshong.

Day10Barshong to Dolam Kencho (trekking)
  • After breakfast trail continue from Barshong to Dolam Kencho will lead you through a lush and dense forest of rhododendron, conifer, maples and dwarf bamboos. With walking distance 15 km and time cover 6 hours.

Day11Dolam Kencho – Dodena – Thimphu (trekking)
  • After breakfast with walking distance 8 km and time cover 4 hours the trail passes through Jigme Dorji National park where you will spot few animals such as Languors. From Dodena monastery hike down till Cheri monastery and at the base of Cheri monastery, will be your driver and vehicle waiting for you. From here drive to Thimphu, enjoy your lunch and overnight at Thimphu

Day12Explore tour around Thimphu city

After breakfast Explore around Thimphu visiting site:

  • Buddha Statue, facing Thimphu valley down below is the worlds’ largest and tallest Buddha statue.
  • Textile museum, near National library at Chubachu, it was established in the year 2001, the museum contains Bhutanese textiles, arts, crafts.
  • View Tashichho Dzong, just near bank of the Wangchu River.
  • Simply Bhutan, Get to see Culture and Traditional of Bhutan.
  • Memorial Chorten, it was built in 1974 by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden in memory of her son, Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
  • Visit Bhutan Museum
  • Royal Takin Reserve (Endanger Animal)
  • Craft Bazaar
  • Kaja Throm local market visit

Day13Final Departure from Paro International Airport

After your breakfast, your guide and driver will see you off at Paro international airport.
