Jungshi Handmade Bhutanese Paper Factory, Thimphu

The Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory is a small working handicraft factory in Thimphu where visitors can see the traditional and old time Bhutanese art of handmade paper production, known as Deh-sho during your Bhutan Tour. Traditional Bhutanese paper has a strong connection with Buddhist culture, it was used for religious scriptures, manuscripts, prayers and woodblock printing. The Jungshi factory was established in 1990 to preserve this traditional craft while adapting it for contemporary use in Bhutan.

Simtokha Dzong, Thimphu

Simtokha Dzong was built in 1629 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the founder of the unified Bhutan states and religious leader to Bhutan. It is generally regarded as the oldest surviving dzong (Fort) in Bhutan. It is located about 5 km south of central Thimphu, on a strategic hill overlooking the Thimphu Valley. The Simtokha Dzong continues to have a religious role and is associated with Buddhist monastic activities.

Tango Monastery (Buddhist College)

This is a sacred Buddhist monastery and higher learning center located 14 kilometers north of Thimphu, Bhutan, founded in the 13th century by Lama Phajo Drugom Zhigpo, and built into its present structure in 1688 by Tenzin Rabgye. Today it is served as Bhutan Buddhist college where most of Bhutan's highest religious complete their advanced training there. Cheri Monastery

This is another Bhutan's very first monastery located 15 kilometers north of Thimphu Bhutan. It is considered one of the country's most historically and spiritually significant sites by that time of Bhutan as Buddhist Kingdom.This Monastery established in 1620 by Master Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the great unifier the Bhutanese state.
