Black-necked cranes Endanger Birds
The Phobjikha valley is internationally known as a winter habitat for the black-necked crane, a protected Himalayan bird. The cranes typically arrive from the Tibetan Plateau during the colder months and leave in spring. The Black-Necked Crane Information Centre is a useful place to learn about the birds, their migration and conservation. The Black Necked Cranes migrates every year from November till March.
Gangtey Monastery
Gangtey Monastery, also known as Gangteng Monastery, is the most important cultural landmark in the valley where one can learn, experience deeper silent about Buddhist spiritual Wellness. It is an important center for the Pema Lingpa tradition of Nyingma Buddhism and overlooks the valley from a hillside.
Hiking and walking
Phobjikha Valley is excellent for gentle walking and nature hiking by the valley side.
